Fluoroscopy Overview - Video Lesson

So what is fluoroscopy? It's the continuous real time acquisition of x-ray images to study the structural and functional anatomy of the human body. The images are acquired in real time and displayed in real time on a television monitor. It has a wide range of clinical applications going from gastrointestinal studies, to orthopedics, to even cardiovascular studies. It is a fluoroscopic X-ray tube, which is really no different than the radiographic tube in its design. That is positioned either above or below the patient. The X-ray energy is then picked up coming out of the patient by an image receptor which is classified as the primary barrier. And by design, if the primary
