Radiation Safety - Video Lesson

It's important to always remember that anything that reduces patient exposure also reduces operator exposure. Likewise, the single most important factor to patient exposure reduction is fluoroscopic beam on time. Less time equals less exposure. In this session, we'll look at popular methods and equipment features that reduce everyone's exposure during fluoroscopy. During fluoroscopy, there are two general categories of radiation safety, patient and operator protection. Each category has its own elements and some apply to both, such as intermittent exposures, last image hold, and floral loop. A key method of protection for staff is the use of protective barriers and lead protection. Additionally, room designs and equipment features help reduce exposure by taking advantage of distance as a protection
