Fluoroscopic Dose Measurements - Video Lesson

With modern fluoroscopic systems, We now have the capability of computing and monitoring fluoroscopic patient exposure. With longer procedures and higher image quality expectations, exposure increases, which contributes to greater patient and occupational exposure. For the patient, Floroscopic exposure is mostly to the skin. Although minimum sore skin distances have been well established, Skin exposure is still a concern. Total patient dose is the result of exposure factors such as KVP, MA, distance, and total X-ray beam on time, and the area of exposure. Generally, the average skin exposure is forty milligram per minute while using standard fluoroscopic techniques.
