Pleural Pathologies - Video Lesson

Hey, everybody. In this lesson, we'll be talking about a group of conditions that I am referring to as plural pathologies. So all of these conditions deal with the pleural cavity in the lungs. So what exactly is the pleural cavity? So in this diagram of the lungs, you can see those bright pink lung areas. Outside the lungs, you can see the ribs. In between the lungs and the ribs is this space or potential space in purple that we call the pleural cavity. Normally, the pleural cavity is filled with only a tiny amount of fluid that fluid is good because it helps to reduce the friction of the lungs moving against the tissues of the rib, but sometimes that pleural cavity can get pathologies inside of it. And usually what that results in is some type of accumulation of fluid or air inside of the pleural cavity that should not be there. So here's a few examples of pleural pathologies.
