Lung Infections - Video Lesson

Hey, everybody. In this lesson, we'll be talking about two different kinds of lung infections that we can see in sectional imaging. So here's the first example. Pneumonia is commonly visualized in CT. Pneumonia is simply an infection in the lungs. So what's it look like? Pneumonia is visualized as poorly defined fluid collections, usually in one or more places throughout the tissues of the lungs. Here's a few examples of what pneumonia looks like. In the axial image to the right, you can see that this is a CT image of the lungs we're really looking at detailed view of those lung tissues. You can see those speckled areas throughout that right lung. You could correlate this image with the patient's clinical history and A radiologist would conclude that this is probably pneumonia. All of those bright areas represent infections, areas of infection in the lung. And there's a number of kinds of microorganisms that can cause these infections. And together, they're
