Welcome back. This sectional anatomy tutorial is a CT scan of the chest. This first slice through the chest is in the most soup hear your portion of the thoracic cavity. This really just looks like a mess of information, but there are some identifiable anatomic structures in this area. We'll start with the most obvious. This dark structure on the anterior side of the chest, just anterior to the spine is the laryngopharynx, which is really just the upper portion of the trachea. On the posterior portion of this patient's upper thoracic cavity, is the thoracic vertebrae. We can see some other bony structures, including the humoral head on both sides of the patient, and we can also see the scapula articulating with the femoral head on both sides of the patient.
