Welcome back to your sectional anatomy tutorial. There's good news and bad news. The bad news is the cervical spine is probably the most complex of all the spinal regions The good news is it's not that difficult. Let's take a look. This first image you might notice is definitely not of the cervical spine. But it is a view of the lower cranial cavity that articulates with the upper cervical spine. This entire bony region here is the occipital bone of the cranium And this circular area here is the foramen magnum. Of course, the foramen magnum is where the spinal cord passes up into the cranium. As we go lower, we can now at this point see certain aspects of the cervical spine. This area here is the anterior arch of c one and we cannot at this point see the posterior arch of c one. Inside of the anterior arch of c one, is a bony process of c two that we call the dens or also called the odontoid process. And that's how
