Stroke - Video Lesson

Hey everybody. Welcome back. In this lesson, we'll be talking about stroke as visualized in sectional imaging. So here's our definition. A stroke is simply the loss of brain function due to a disturbance in the blood flow to the brain. So anytime blood flow to the brain is interrupted in any way, this potentially results in the symptoms of stroke. There's actually two types of stroke. The first one we'll be talking about is ischemic stroke. An ischemic stroke specifically first to limited or even loss of blood flow to some portion of the brain. This loss of blood flow can be a result of several conditions such as thrombosis, which is a clot of blood in an important arterial vessel in the brain may also be a result of embolism. And embolism is anything in a blood vessel could be thrombosis or air or anything else in a blood vessel that has flowed into the arterial blood supply in the brain.
