Common Medical Abbreviations - Video Lesson

Hey, everybody. Welcome to another lesson of our medication overview course. This lesson focuses on ten important terms and abbreviations regarding medication administration. Please note that there are a number of terms and abbreviations you will need to learn. These terms are covered in our additional resources. Always check your facility's policy on approved abbreviations. First, let's discuss some abbreviations that pertain to a patient's health record. Electronic medical record or EMR. An EMR is a digital record of a patient's medical history and treatment within a single practice. It includes the patient's diagnosis, medications, treatment plans, immunization dates, allergies, and test results from that specific practice, electronic health record or EHR. An EHR is more comprehensive than an EMR. They contain all the information found in an EMR, but also gather data from multiple health care providers.
