Hey, everybody. Welcome back. This short video is about lab tests that we use in radiology. The main blood tests that we use in diagnostic imaging basically fall into two categories. There's tests that check for adequate kidney function. These tests are important when we inject intravenous contrast. They include BUN creatinine and GFR. And then there's also a category of tests to check for adequate blood clotting. These tests are important when we insert large needles into the patient. Test that check blood clotting include PT, PTT, INR, and the platelet count. Let's start by talking about test concerning kidney function, and we'll begin with the B UN. BUN is an acronym that stands for blood urea nitrogen A lot of urea in the blood could mean that the kidneys aren't doing their job, and they're not functioning very well.
