Venous Access Devices - Video Lesson

Hey, everybody. Welcome back in this video about CT contrast. We're talking about Venus access devices. Some access devices can be used for power injection while some cannot. We'll talk about both. Before we talk about these devices, please understand this important disclaimer. Injection policies can vary. So check your department procedures and protocols before power injecting through any device. So let's start by talking about the most common device used for power injection, and that is the simple peripheral IV. Peripheral IVs, should be twenty gauge or higher for power injection. The preferred gauge is actually eighteen gauge. Twenty gauge is acceptable. Smaller gauges, like twenty two and twenty four generally cannot be used for power injection. The preferred site location for peripheral IV injection is the AC space, that's the antecubital faucet or the veins of the forearm. Smaller veins that we
