Contrast (Subject Contrast) - Video Lesson

Hey, everybody. Welcome back. This lesson is about the patient factors influencing contrast, which we call subject contrast. Remember that image contrast is defined as the visible in adjacent brightness levels within the radiographic image. So how is that contrast created? Where does it come from? It starts inside the patient. Image contrast is created by the subject of the radiograph, which is, of course, the patient. Subject contrast is defined like this. It's the magnitude of the signal difference in the remnant beam as a result of the different absorption characteristics of the tissues and structures making up the part. It's actually not as complicated as it sounds. The beam initially strikes the patient with uniform intensity. All areas of the beam are basically the same intensity. And
