MRI Soft Tissue Neck (Anatomy) - Video Lesson

Hey, everyone. Welcome to today's lesson on the MRI of the soft tissue neck. In this lesson, we will look at the basic anatomy on sagittal, coronal, and axial views. Let's get started. On this midline sagittal view of the soft tissue neck, we can identify many important structures. First, each pharynx is demonstrated from superior to inferior. The nasopharynx, oropharynx, and laryngopharynx. You can see the body of the mandible, hard palate, soft palate, uvula, and tongue in the area of the oropharynx. The epiglottis is demonstrated posterior and inferior to the location of the tongue. This is a flap of cartilage above the trachea that keeps food and liquid from entering the lungs when swallowing. The true vocal cord is located just inferior to the epiglottis. The esophagus is located posterior to the trachea. One way to remember this is thinking about drinking a cup of tea. The word tea
