MRI Routine Brain - Important Structures (Sagittal) - Video Lesson

Hey, everybody. Welcome to today's lesson on MRI of the routine brain. In this lesson, we will discuss the anatomy on sagittal images a technologist needs to know. Let's get started. When performing a study of the brain, a variety of weightings and planes of imaging will be included on a protocol. It is important to carefully review and follow protocols established by radiologists. To align sagittal slices, the slice group will be parallel to the longitudinal fissure on the axial and coronal localizers. All brain tissue should be covered from side to side. Now let's look at some useful anatomy on the resulting sagittal images. On this first slice, we can easily identify the gray matter and the white matter along with the gyrus and sulci. Moving medially, the temporal lobe begins to become visible as well as the lateral or sylvian fissure. The temporal lobe becomes more visible with continual visualization of the lateral fissure.
