Liver Trauma - Video Lesson

Welcome back in this video. We'll be talking about liver trauma, and really there's just one condition that we're talking about liver laceration. Sectional imaging, this is a somewhat common condition to identify liver laceration is a tear or fracture through the liver tissue. So sometimes we just think of like bones fracturing, but really the liver and the spleen and even the kidneys and other heart organs in the body, they can all fracture as well, and normally we would call that a laceration. Just means that the tissue itself has been torn apart. So what does that look like in sectional imaging? It's easiest to identify a laceration when we inject the patient with some form of contrast because A liver laceration will appear as abnormal contrast enhancement following trauma.
