Large Bowel Pathologies - Video Lesson

Hey, everybody. This lesson is about some large bowel pathologies that we visualize in sectional imaging. The first of these pathologies is colorectal cancer. Colorectal cancer is carcinoma of the large bowel. So there's nothing tricky about what this pathology is. Colorectal cancer also looks like other forms of cancer. Colorectal cancer appears as a mass growing from the bowel wall. So colorectal cancer seems like it should be easy to identify, but it's actually a little tricky. Here's a few examples of what colorectal cancer looks like. Because colorectal cancer is a mass growing inside of the bowels, Sometimes it's easy to see, sometimes it's not. In the image to the left, that this patient has colorectal cancer in the area of the hepatic flexure. And you can just barely see that mass forming on the wall of the colon on either side of that flexure. You can see in CT imaging, which is really the preferred modality for imaging
