This unprecedented pandemic has essentially turned what was once normal (eating out at restaurants, classroom lectures, clinical rotations, and readily available toilet paper at your local grocery store) into a new reality of social distancing, government requested quarantine, and online classes. To make matters worse, many newly graduated radiography students have received word from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT®) that their scheduled registry exam has been pushed back to an indefinite future date!
Due to this new normal (which is hopefully short-term), many radiography students and educators are now searching online for helpful radiography-based learning resources and tools to help fill the gap.
The goal of this blog post is to provide a list of what I believe are some good, paid online resources to help radiography students and educators through these uncertain times.
Online Radiography Learning Resources
- The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT®) The ASRT® is somewhat of our industry’s Swiss Army knife. What I mean by this is that the ASRT® is responsible for creating standards and regulations within the diagnostic imaging field, providing research and statistics, and creating and distributing a wide variety of continuing education content within their CE store. Even though you may not need the CE credit (if you are still a student), there are still quite a lot of quality courses and study material offered within the ASRT’s website.
- Radtutor Radtutor is an online radiography training and review resource that utilizes a variety of interactive learning tools such as quizzes, flashcards, and study guides. Radtutor can be an excellent resource for those who enjoy engagement-based learning. Radtutor includes content over core radiography imaging principles, anatomy and positioning, and patient care.
- RadReview® (McGraw Hill) RadReview (formally RadReview Easy) is one of the most used prep tools today for the ARRT® Radiography Registry Exam. RadReview includes a large and customizable question bank with some advanced reporting options. RadRevew recently added a premium purchase option for accessing the digital version of D.A. Saia’s companion book Radiography PREP and Course-Based Quizzes.
- XRAYCOACH XRAYCOACH is somewhat of a newer player in the radiography training and registry exam prep space, but I believe it is worth adding to this list! The XRAYCOACH website boasts a large prep question bank with a number of unique mock exams to choose from for the ARRT® Registry Exam. XRAYCOACH additionally offers 115 video lessons over a wide range of radiography topics and principles.
- Corectech Corectech is another dedicated prep resource for the ARRT® Radiography Registry Exam. Corectech holds the title as the oldest radiography exam prep question bank and is used by a wide variety of radiography students and educators for the purpose of Registry Exam prep and review.
- SIMTICS SIMTICS may not be as well known as many of the other mentioned paid resources within this blog post, but I believe they are worthy of being included on this list. SIMTICS is unique in that they leverage virtual (not virtual reality) radiography positioning training software along with quizzes, videos, and digital text. SIMTICS can be an excellent tool for those who are currently in a clinical rotation but are no longer able to visit their clinical site.
- Clover Learning – RadTechBootCamp RadTechBootCamp, like ASRT®, is somewhat of a multi-purpose radiography training and Prep tool for the ARRT® Registry Exam . RadTechBootCamp is best known for its extensive catalog of unique and easy to understand core radiography and positioning video-lessons. RadTechBootCamp is advertised as being a powerful radiography learning resource for Radiography students of any level. RadTechBootCamp courses include hundreds of video-lessons over all major radiography topics and principles, post-videos quizzes, interactive learning tools (clickable images and flashcards), assessments, and a comprehensive prep question bank for the ARRT® Registry Exam.
