Toes: Anatomy & Routine Projections - Video Lesson
Hey, everybody. Welcome to today's lesson on the gross anatomy and routine radiographic projections of the toes. This essential topic forms the foundation for accurate imaging and diagnosis of conditions related to the toes. In this lesson, we'll cover appropriate medical terminology, the anatomy of the toes, and routine projections for radiographs. Let's get started. Much of the anatomical terms for the toes are similar to those for the digits of the hand. Key terms for this lesson include the bones of the foot, phalanges, the bones of the toes, metatarsals, the bones of the instep, and tarsals, the bones of the proximal foot slash heel area. Also included are anatomical terms for the joints associated with the foot. Interphalangeal or IP joint, the joint between two phalanges of the first toe. Distal interphalangeal or DIP joints, the joints between the middle and distal phalanges, proximal interphalange.
