Positioning for Limited Radiography

The Radiography Positioning course includes a positioning overview for each body section with some special positions demonstrated.

Topics include: radiographic examinations for the head, chest, upper respiratory, bony thorax, abdomen, upper and lower extremity, shoulder and pelvic girdle, spine, mobile, and trauma. Also included are clinical indications for imaging, anatomical nomenclature terminology, planes of reference, body movement, and proper use of positioning aids and accessory equipment.

• Understand positioning requirements using directional terminology, lines, and landmarks.

• Utilize positioning terminology, planes of reference, and body movement.

• Recognize divisions of the body, i.e., appendicular, axial, and sesamoid.

• Understand the proper use of positioning aids and accessory equipment.
