Communication of Critical Findings to Health Care Team - Video Lesson
Hey everybody and welcome back to our patient care in MRI course. In this lesson we will discuss communicating critical findings, what constitutes a critical finding, standard protocols for reporting critical findings, and what information needs to be collected for the report of critical findings. Let's get started. First, let's discuss what constitutes a critical finding. A critical finding is any imaging observation that requires immediate clinical attention. These findings often signal life threatening or potentially disabling conditions. Common examples include intracranial hemorrhage detected on brain MRI. These may look isointense on a T1 weighted scan or hyperintense on T2 weighted scans. Susceptibility weighted imaging, or SWI, is another sequence used to rule out intracranial hemorrhage. Acute ischemic stroke findings, such as restricted diffusion in the brain. These
