Cardiac/Respiratory Arrest - Video Lesson

Hey everyone, welcome back to our lesson on patient care. This lesson focuses on heart attacks or myocardial infarctions, including causes of heart attacks, the signs and symptoms of heart attacks, and initial treatment for a patient experiencing a heart attack. It is important for all medical professionals, including diagnostic imaging professionals, to understand emergency situations and treatment plans. Let's get started. Myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack, is a medical condition that occurs when the blood flow to a part of the heart muscle is severely reduced or completely blocked. This blockage is typically due to the buildup of fatty deposits or plaques in the coronary arteries which supply blood to the heart muscle. When a plaque ruptures, it can form a blood clot that obstructs the blood flow. The lack of oxygen rich blood can damage or destroy part of the heart muscle. This event can be life threatening and requires immediate medical attention.
