Hey, everyone. Welcome to today's lesson on the MRI of the SI joints, sacrum and coccyx. In this lesson, we will look at some anatomy on coronal, axial, and sagittal scans. Let's get started. On this first view, slices are aligned to show the sacrum and sacroiliac joints in a coronal oblique orientation. The bony ilium are demonstrated, as well as the gluteus maximus muscles. These structures help us determine that this slice is toward the posterior of the body. Moving anteriorly or towards the front of the body, the ilium continues to be visualized with the bony median crest visible in the center of the image. On this slice, continuing anterior, the l five s one intervertebral disc is demonstrated superiorly. To the right and left are the psoas muscles. We can also see the ilium and the sacroiliac joints.
