CTA Chest (Pulmonary Embolism) - Video Lesson

This CT protocol review is on CT and geographic imaging of the chest for pulmonary embolism. I think the reason for performing this protocol is probably self evident. We'd be looking especially for pulmonary embolisms in the chest. There's lots of things that might lead us to believe a patient does have a pulmonary embolism, things like chest pain, dyspnea, a positive d dimer test, which is a test for embolism, also things like recent surgeries, a recent hit tree of deep vein thrombosis in the leg because that's where pulmonary embolisms actually come from. In the image to the right, this is actually a CT angiography study just for pulmonary embolism, we can see that the pulmonary arteries are brightly enhanced, and the red arrow is pointing at a dark filling defect inside of the left pulmonary artery, and that is the pulmonary embolism that we'd be looking for in this particular study.
