CT Chest (Routine) - Video Lesson

There's several ways that you can perform a CT scan of a patient's chest, but in this lesson, we'll especially be talking about routine venous phase imaging. So why would you perform a scan like this? There's several common indications, especially pain associated with trauma, cancer, hilar adenopathy, or sometimes we would perform this Venus face scan just as a general survey. It's important to keep in mind that there are a few indications that require a different kind of chest imaging. For example, if we're looking at the vasculature of the chest such as the aorta or the pulmonary arteries, We'd want to do a CT angiography scan, not a routine scan. Also, if the indication for the procedure is lung disease, such as emphysema or COPD, that is not a reason to perform a routine chest CT for those conditions, we would perform a high resolution CT.
