CT High-Resolution Chest - Video Lesson

Welcome back. This lesson is about high resolution imaging of the chest. This is a rather odd protocol that is designed really to provide high evolution images of just the lung tissues. The goal is not to visualize the hearts or the vasculature. We're really looking at just the lungs. And because of that, this procedure has only one indication, and that is lung disease. Lung disease, or we might call it inter stitial lung disease comes in many forms. We'll be talking about things like emphysema or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, abbreviated COPD, Those are forms of lung disease that are good reasons to perform a scan like this. One of the things that you'll find is doctors love to order things that are called high resolution. But if you see an order come across that's for a high resolution chest CT, and it's indicated for something other than lung disease, then the high resolution scan is not exactly what the doctor ordered.
