CTA Chest (Aorta) - Video Lesson

Hey, everybody. Welcome back. In this lesson, we're talking about the protocol for CT angiography imaging of the chest, evaluating the thoracic AOR So why would we perform a scan like this? Here's the indications. This scan is performed when we're evaluating the patient for an aortic aneurysm or if they have the signs and symptoms of an aortic aneurysm such as chest or back pain, as well as dyspnea, which is difficulty breathing, and pressure changes. All of these are potential indications for aortic aneurysm, which would make it appropriate to scan the patient using the CT angi thoracic aorta protocol. This protocol, however, is not indicated for mass evaluation. That would require routine chest imaging. This protocol is also not indicated for lung disease. That would require high resolution CT imaging. And finally, this protocol would not be appropriate for imaging the patient for pulmonary embolism.
