CT Kidneys - Video Lesson
Welcome back. This CT protocol review is about multi phase imaging of the kidneys. Under special circumstances, it might be useful to form a multi phase examination of the kidneys. And each phase highlights different portions of the kidneys. The main indication for doing would be a patient with a renal mask or some type of renal abnormality that needs to be evaluated in greater detail than the tradition routine abdomen and pelvis scan. If a patient doesn't have a renal mass or if we don't think they have a renal mass, this would not be the protocol to use. In this series of four images on the right, you can see the kind of pathologies that we would be looking to evaluate. These are four different scan series all on the same patient. And you can see the arrow pointing at the same large left renal mass. This kidney protocol is useful for finding characteristics of that renal mask that may help the physician to identify what kind of issue that we're dealing with.
