The wall filter removes low frequency Doppler signals associated with tissue motion and slow moving structures. In other words, the wall filter removes the color from slow moving reflectors like vessel walls and vibrating tissues. These signals often referred to as clutter can interfere with the accurate visualization of blood flow. As part of this process of removing this clutter, the wall filter sets a threshold frequency. Signals below this frequency are rejected, which prevents tissue motion artifacts from being displayed, allowing for a clearer representation of blood flow.
