Hey, everybody. Welcome to today's lesson on Doppler ultrasound. This lesson focuses on both color Doppler and spectral Doppler and their reliance on gain adjustments to optimize signal detection and image quality. Understanding the differences between color Doppler gain and spectral Doppler gain, as well as their appropriate settings, is essential for accurate interpretation of hemodynamic information. Color Doppler gain and spectral Doppler gain share the fundamental purpose of enhancing the visibility of Doppler signals, but they're applied differently due to the distinct ways each modality displays flow information. Both color Doppler gain and spectral Doppler gain are set by the sonographer, so understanding how they work and what happens if they're set too low or too high is critical for accurate diagnostic imaging. Let's start with color Doppler gain. Color Doppler gain controls the amount of color displayed in the color box. The amount of gain enhances or suppresses how the displayed color flow appears within the region.
