Hey, everybody. Welcome back. In this lesson, we're discussing the types of grids used in radiographic imaging. Remember that a grid is a plate of carefully positioned thin lead strip that absorbs scatter radiation before it strikes the image receptor. These vertical lead strips are spaced apart by a radiolucent material. Such as aluminum or plastic. There are a few ways to classify the construction of a grid. A grid can be designed as parallel or focused. It can be linear or crossed. It can be stationary or moving, and we'll also discuss virtual grids. These grids all serve the same purpose to remove scatter from the radiograph and improve image quality. But the construction and use can be quite different.
