T2* - Video Lesson
Hey, everybody. Welcome to today's lesson on MRI contrast principles, specifically, t two star decay. This lesson will discuss how inhomogeneities impact the magnetic field, the differences between t two and t two star decay, as well as the relationship between gradient echo pulse sequences and t two star contrast. Understanding t two star is important as it will allow you to best optimize imaging protocols. Let's begin by discussing what inhomogeneities are and how they impact the magnetic field. In a perfect world, the static magnetic field in an MRI scanner would be uniform or homogeneous, meaning it would have no variations. Having a homogeneous field would mean that all of the protons within the patient would spin in phase at the same frequency. However, in the real world, the static magnetic field is not
