T2 Decay - Video Lesson

Hey, everybody. Welcome to today's lesson on MRI contrast principles. This lesson focuses on t two decay, including the relationship between echo time, t e, and t two decay, the causes of defacing, how t two decay time impacts the contrast of an MRI image, and the relationship between inhomogeneities of the magnetic field and t two star. It is important to understand t two decay because it relates to image contrast. Different tissues have different t two decay times, which determines their brightness on the MRI image. T two decay is also called t two relaxation, transverse decay, and spin spin relaxation. Remember, RF pulses matching the precessional frequency of the magnetic moments in the hydrogen nuclei cause the magnetic moments to precess in phase. T two decay occurs when the spins of the magnetic moments of hydrogen
