Relaxation in Different Tissues - Video Lesson

Hey, everybody. Welcome to today's lesson on MRI contrast and tissue differentiation. This lesson focuses on the differences in relaxation in different tissues, particularly fat and water. Understanding these concepts is crucial for professionals in the field of medical imaging as they underpin the ability to differentiate tissues in MRI scans, leading to more accurate diagnoses. Different tissues have different relaxation times. In this and other lessons, we will be focusing on the relaxation times of water and fat. This is because water and fat are two of the most abundant substances in the human body, and they can be crucial for diagnostic purposes. Many pathologies manifest in changes in the water or fat content of tissues. Edema, which is an accumulation of fluid, results in an increase in water, which alters the appearance of affected air.
