Abdomen - Special Views - Video Lesson

In this view, we will be demonstrating the dorsal decubitus abdomen. The dorsal decubitus abdomen should be performed with the patient lying supine, a forty inch source to image distance and a horizontal being with no tube exhalation. Our patient is on her back, which is supine, we are gonna call this dorsal because the x-ray tube is now decubitus or horizontal. We have her on her back with the the central ray at two inches above the iliac crest. Her left side is closer to the ir, so I've indicated that with a left marker. Shepatient will take in a very big deep breath. She's gonna blow her breath all the way out. She's gonna hold very still in the exposure is made. A diagnostic dorsal decubitus abdomen radiograph shall be free of motion and rotation.
