Hey, everybody. Welcome to today's lesson on the gross anatomy and routine radiographic projections of the facial bones. In this lesson, we'll cover the anatomy of the facial bones and routine projections for radiographs. Let's get started. There are fourteen facial bones. Two maxillae, two zygoma, two lacrimal, two nasal, two inferior nasal concae, two palatine, one vomer, and one mandible. The palatine bones are not visible on this diagram because of their location. The facial bones contribute to the shape and form of a person's face, as well as contributing to the formation of the orbits, nose, and mouth. The nasal bones, inferior nasal concave, vomer, and mandible have been discussed in other lessons and will not be discussed here.
