Medical asepsis involves practice is aimed at reducing the number of pathogens and the likelihood of their transfer in patient care settings. Examples of medical asepsis include hand washing, using gloves, and cleaning and disinfecting surfaces. Surgical asepsis, also known as sterile technique, involves practices that keep an area or object free of all microorganisms. It is used in operating rooms, certain diagnostic testing areas, and other settings where maintaining sterility is of the utmost importance. The key difference between medical asepsis and surgical asepsis is that medical asepsis aims to reduce pathogens to a safe level, but
