MRI Arthrogram - Upper Extremities - Video Lesson

Hey, everyone. Welcome to today's lesson on MR arthrograms of the upper and lower extremities. In this lesson, we will look at some indications for arthrograms and compare it to normal arthrogram images. We will cover the shoulder, wrist, hip, and knee. A more detailed review of specific anatomic structures is provided in each specific body part lesson. Let's get started. MR arthograms are used to specifically assess the condition of cartilage, tendons, and ligaments within joints of the body. This is facilitated by the injection under x-ray guidance of contrast media into the joint space, providing a bright background for dark ligaments or tendons. This allows radiologists to better visualize injuries to these structures. MR arthrogram is indicated for evaluating shoulder labrum and rotator cuff pathology, particularly in cases of suspected labral tears, rotator cuff tears, or instability, where standard MRI may
