MRI Foot (Anatomy) - Video Lesson
Hey, everyone. Welcome to today's lesson on the MRI of the foot. In this lesson, we will look at the bony structures, important ligaments and tendons, and anatomy on different planes of MRI imaging. Let's get started. The foot is comprised of twenty six bones, including fourteen phalanges, five metatarsals, and seven tarsals. The metatarsals are numbered one through five. The tarsal bones include the calcaneus, talus, cuboid, navicular, medial cuneiform, intermediate or medial cuneiform, and lateral cuneiform. Toes two through five are comprised of a proximal, middle, and distal phalanx. The great toe only has a proximal and distal phalanx. The interphalangeal joints are classified as hinge joints, while the metatarsophalangeal joints are classified as condyloid joints. Remember, hinge joints are associated with collateral ligaments providing stability to the joints. Now
