MRI Bony Pelvis (Anatomy & Pathology) - Video Lesson

Hey, everyone. Welcome to today's lesson on the MRI of the bony pelvis. In this lesson, we will look at the bony structures and key landmarks of the pelvis, anatomy on different planes of MRI imaging, and a few common pathologies associated with these studies. Let's get started. The bony pelvis provides stability and support for the axial and appendicular skeleton. Major structures within the bony pelvis include the paired ilium, ischium, and pubis bones, which fuse at the acetabulum and the sacrum connected via the sacroiliac joints. Key landmarks include the iliac crest, forming the superior border, the interior superior iliac spine, a prominent interior projection, and the ischial tuberosity, a posterior prominence for sitting. The pubic symphysis, a cartilaginous joint, unites the pubic bones anteriorly. The acetabulum serves as the socket for the hip joint, supporting weight bearing.
