Skull: Radiographic Anatomy - Video Lesson
Hey, everybody. Welcome to today's lesson on radiographic anatomy, demonstrated on routine projections of the skull. In a previous lesson, we discussed the anatomy of the skull and which radiographic projections are routinely performed. So let's tie that information to the radiographs themselves. As a reminder, the routine radiographic projections of the skull are a p axial or towne method, lateral, PA axial or Caldwell method, and PA. Take a look at this radiograph. What projection is being demonstrated? How do you know? Let's find out the answers to these questions. If you said this radiograph is an AP axial or TOWN method projection of the skull, you're correct. Let's look at the evaluation criteria to see how we know for sure. In this image, the occipital bone, petrous pyramids, and foramen magnum are demonstrated. The dorsum celli and posterior clinoid processes are visualized in the shadow of the foramen magnum.
