Sinuses: Radiographic Anatomy - Video Lesson
Hey, everybody. Welcome to today's lesson on radiographic anatomy, demonstrated on routine projections of the sinuses. In a previous lesson, we discussed the anatomy and which radiographic projections are routinely performed. So let's tie that information to the radiographs themselves. As a reminder, the routine radiographic projections of the sinuses are lateral, PA axial, Caldwell method, and parietoacanthial, Waters method. Take a look at this radiograph. What projection is being demonstrated? How do you know? Let's find out the answers to these questions. If you said this radiograph is a lateral projection of the sinuses, you're correct. Let's look at the evaluation criteria to see how we know for sure. In this image, all four paranasal sinus groups are demonstrated with no rotation or tilt. Rotation is evident by interior and posterior separation of symmetric bilateral vertical structures, such as the mandibular rami and greater weight.
