Abdomen Sonography: Trauma-related Penile Abnormalities - Video Lesson
Hey, everyone, and welcome back to our abdominal ultrasound series. In today's lesson, we'll focus on trauma related abnormalities of the penis. We'll also learn how to differentiate traumatic versus non traumatic causes of penile abnormalities using both grayscale and Doppler imaging. Let's get started. Penile trauma is uncommon but can be a urologic emergency, particularly when associated with fracture of the tunica albaginea. Ultrasound plays a critical role in the initial evaluation, helping to quickly determine the extent of injury and guide surgical or conservative management. High frequency linear transducers are typically used to assess the penis in both longitudinal and transverse planes, with Doppler imaging providing essential information about vascular integrity. Let's start with penile fracture. Penile fracture refers to a traumatic rupture of the tunica albogini
