Hey, everybody. Welcome back. This video is about the effect of oxygenation on tissue radio sensitivity, sometimes called the oxygen effect. All cells require oxygen. But sometimes the level of oxygen in the cell can vary. Understanding how oxygenation affects radio sensitivity, is important because it informs how we use ionizing radiation. Normal oxygenation is called aerobic. Decreased oxygen content is called hypoxic, and no oxygen content in a cell is called anoxic. Oxygen is a good thing, but oxygen actually makes cells more sensitive to certain types of radiation.
