The line focus principle describes the relationship between the actual focal spot on the anode and the effective focal spot that extends from the anode. This principle is important because it has an enormous effect on both the heat capacity of the x-ray tube. The spatial resolution of the resulting radiographs and the coverage of the X-ray beam.
