Hey, everybody. Welcome to this overview of safety in magnetic resonance imaging. This lesson discusses essentials in MRI safety zones and personnel levels. Let's start with the safety zones. The safety zone system was created to prevent access to areas where the strong static magnetic field could cause injury. The MRI suite is divided into four zones referred to by numbers one through four, each with increasing levels of restriction and safety protocols. Zone one. Zone one is the uncontrolled area which is freely accessible to the general public. It encompasses the entrance to the MRI facility and any public spaces such as waiting rooms and hallways leading up to the MRI department.
