Let's get started. An important aspect of imaging patient education is the communication that happens before, during, and after the procedure. Let's take a look at the communication that may occur before an MRI scan. Prior to the procedure, it is important to set the tone, stay calm and confident. Thoroughly explain the procedure carefully by reviewing length of exam time, positioning, breathing commands, and why bowel preparation or contrast is required.
