Intravenous contrast administration in CT has to be performed in a very particular way. And the way that we control contrast administration is through power injectors. Power injectors are also called pressure injectors have several parameters that can be controlled by the technologist. The first that we'll see is the flow rate or the injection rate. And this is exactly what it sounds like. This refers to the rate of contrast injection measured in milliliters per seconds. So this is basically how fast the contrast is being injected into the patients. The second variable that can be controlled by the technologist and manipulated on the control panel is the total contrast volume. And again, this is exactly what it sounds like.
