CT Sinuses - Video Lesson

This protocol review is on CT of the sinuses. This is sometimes called the sinus screening protocol. There's only a few reasons that we would complete a CT sinus screening exam. It is just a general survey of the sinuses. So we'd be looking for things like sinusitis, which is inflammation of the sinuses, or some other reason for sinus pain. We would not complete a simple sinus screening for things like abscess, infection, or mass. In the case of those indications, we would be looking to complete an exam that used idenated contrast to help enhance the surrounding soft tissues. Like most CT exams, it is preferred to complete this exam with the helical scan mode. The scanning mode is faster and it's easier on the patient. It also allows for more post processing options. One thing that is different about CT imaging of the sinuses is we can use thicker slices
