CTA Heart - Video Lesson

This CT protocol review is on CTA imaging of the heart. Traditionally imaging of the heart and the coronary arteries has taken place in a cath lab under sterile condition. But the benefit of CTA imaging is obviously decreased risk of complication. On the other hand, the benefit of using the cath lab is the ability to intervene immediately. It's going to be at the discretion of the ordering physician to make that decision. During this procedure, we will be imaging the entire heart but the main thing we're looking at is the coronary arteries. And since we're looking at the coronary arteries, we'll be looking for any kind of coronary anomaly. Things like coronary artery disease, stenosis, calcification, aneurysm, really any change to the coronary arteries. The coronary arteries are very, very small, and so we have to image them with very thin slices. We'll be looking to use zero point six two five millimeter slices for viewing and for post processing. As with all AngI
