Specifically, what occurs and when at different time points in a pulse sequence. The timing of a pulse sequence is critical for creating an image of diagnostic value. So this is an extremely important concept to understand. Let's get started. The events of a pulse sequence include the RF excitation pulse, slice selection, phase encoding, echo formation, frequency encoding, and signal acquisition. Depending on the type of pulse sequence used, there may be additional RF pulses, gradient pulses, or other events unique to that particular pulse sequence.
